According to a report, Jess said, "This past weekend, I was gone out of town, and the Alexa kept going off, and it kept talking to my husband." Jess's husband was playing a video game at 1 am when Alexa started speaking on its own. Her husband found it "super weird". But this was not an isolated incident.

Alexa started speaking without any prompt

According to Jess, shortly after Alexa initiated private conversations with her husband, it started speaking on its own spontaneously without being promoted to do so by Jess or her family members.

These incidents raised concerns for the privacy and autonomy of the family as it was being threatened by a device.

Eventually, Jess decided to get rid of it. Jess said in the video that Alexa is "officially evicted from our place."

The comment section of the video was then bombarded with people narrating similar experiences with their devices. One of the users said, "I also caught my Alexa at 3 a.m. whispering to my dogs in the kitchen,” one wrote. “I thought someone was in the house. I unplugged it.”

While another said how their Alexa kept saying "Stop, error, 701, enter"

Alexa has been shocking people for a while now. Two months ago, a user posted on a Reddit thread saying, "I have heard of Alexa doing random things. Well, tonight when I went to my room, I asked Alexa to turn my lights on as I always do and Alexa did. Only after 5 seconds they turned back off. I did this again and the same thing happened."

“About an hour later my [mom] comes into my room saying Alexa has just sung goodbye to her for no reason. And it does it again a few minutes later."

Doesn't it all sound eerie? Are we controlling the devices or are devices controlling us? What do you think?
